Physical strain & ergonomics: healthy working, every day

Back, neck and shoulder complaints are among the most common reasons for absence, including for people who mainly work at a screen. The cause is rarely one big accident, but daily strain: a workplace that does not fit, hours in the same posture and too little movement in between.

Ergonomics is about adapting work and workplace to the person. That means a well-adjusted workplace, but also behaviour: alternating between sitting and standing, moving regularly and knowing how to do heavy or repetitive work safely. For absence prevention this is one of the most tangible themes, because measures quickly become visible.

In this theme we collect articles on workplace design, on posture and aids and on preventing physical complaints in office, production and care work.
